Turquoise is composed of hydrous copper and aluminium phosphate that is opaque. Turquoise occurs in thin veins and small nodules and varies in colour from dark greenish-blue to sky blue or robins-egg blue, green purple and yellow. Some varieties display a fine black or brown spider web matrix pattern and others display spots of brown and black matrix patterning.
